Diphylleia grayi, also known as the skeleton flower, is a rare and delicate woodland blossom found in the cool, damp mountains of Japan, China, and Korea. At first glance, it appears like any other charming white-petaled flower but it holds a magical secret.

When touched by rain or moisture, its soft white petals become almost completely transparent, revealing the intricate veining beneath like delicate lace or fragile glass. As it dries, the petals return to their original white form, as if hiding their secret once more. This fleeting transformation gives the flower its hauntingly beautiful nickname.

Just like the flower that grows more beautiful when touched by the rain, I chose this name with the hope that everything life throws at me will shape me into someone better.

Another reason I carry this name is because Diphylleia Grayi is also the title of *a song created by my favorite artist, Jonghyun of SHINee.*The lyrics resonate deeply with my soul tender, haunting, and honest and that’s why this name felt meant for me.
